Research Themes

During my MSc in Marine Biology I’ve worked my way from more specific “marine” research for my first master project, towards Marine Ornithology, working with Arctic terns (Sterna paradisaea) for my last master project. I am particularly interested in the potential dietary and foraging range effects on life-history traits in seabirds. In pursuit of a PhD in this field, the opportunity to work with birds as part of a fieldwork team is a great way for me to improve my skills involving bird handling

Curriculum Vitae

I obtained my master’s degree in Marine Biology last September, after which I am currently doing some additional work getting acquainted with comparative phylogenetic methods with the prospect of having my master’s thesis published. Prior to that, I was granted the great opportunity to work with Arctic terns in Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard, for my final master project for which I studied the variation in parental food provisioning of Arctic tern chicks in relation to several external factors such as wind speed, precipitation, and tidal phase. It was here in Ny-Ålesund where I obtained experience with the handling of Arctic terns and barnacle geese (Branta leucopsis) through ao weighing, measuring, blood sampling, and ringing individuals.
