Temas de investigación
Durante varias décadas mi trabajo se ha desarrollado en una doble vertiente. Como docente, he enseñado Fisiología Animal a muchos estudiantes de la Licenciatura, y ahora el Grado, en Ciencias Biológicas. También enseñado a dar sus primeros pasos a investigadores que ahora se encuentran en instituciones nacionales e internacionales dirigiendo sus Tesis Doctorales o sus Tesinas. Estas se han basado en mi actividad investigadora. La mayor parte de ella se ha llevado a cabo en el campo del metabolismo energético, con énfasis especial en el tejido adiposo ya sea pardo o blanco. De ahí que la mayor parte de mis conocimientos procedan de la experimentación directa con roedores. Tejido adiposo pardo, termogénesis, esteroides sexuales, gestación, leptina, adipokinas, se encuentran entre las palabras claves que definen esta línea.
No obstante, mi interés por los animales que viven en condiciones de libertad me hizo colaborar en trabajos de campo desarrollados con aves desde hace ya muchos años aprovechando mi formación en Fisiología Animal. Hematología, esteroides sexuales, inmunoglobulinas, interleucinas, leptina son las palabras clave que definen mi trabajo en la actualidad.
